Curriculum, Educational Organisation and Teaching Methods.

The National Curriculum Guidelines and directives from the Welsh Assembly and Local Education Authority govern the school's curriculum. Subjects taught are English, Welsh (as a second language), Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Art, Music, Information Technology, Design Technology, Physical Education, Religious Education, Personal and Social Education and Cwricwlwm Cymreig.

(Children under the age of 5 are taught the above subjects following "Desirable Outcome" guidelines.)

Some priority is given to Language and Mathematics through the "Literacy" and the "Numeracy" sessions.

All subjects are taught either individually in their own right or as an integrated approach as part of cross-curricular themes and topics. These are organised throughout the school to ensure coverage of the curriculum as well as continuity and progression. Subjects are taught either to the whole class, to groups or according to individual needs. A school policy and scheme of work relating to each subject area are available at the school.

Welsh is taught as a second language through everyday words and phrases, songs, rhymes, conversations and books as well as specific class lessons. We promote a Welshness within the school life and pupils learn about their Welsh heritage and culture. Saint David's Day is celebrated by the pupils in the form of a concert and by dressing in the National costume (optional). A Welsh peripatetic teacher also visits the school during the week to teach the children.
