The New School 1975 - ?

After the Centenary Celebrations in 1975, a new school was built on the former school field with adjacent land bought to serve as an alternative place of recreation. The new building was opened in 1976 under the continued headship of Mr Marks.

The modern complex included a kitchen, school hall / dining area as well as new toilets.
In the early days the bulk of any given school meal was delivered to the shed by the front door where Mrs Lizzie Thomas the Cook of Ty Canol, in Llangain ( Isaf ) would prepare any additional ingredients needed but facilities were very limited in such a place.

However with the building of the Memorial Hall in 1964 the children had their meals in the back stage area which served as a dining room. The Cook was now able to excel herself by cooking everything on site in the purpose built kitchen at the hall. Meals were no longer transported from County Hall! Instead orderly lines of school children could be seen going from the school across the lane towards Maesyrawel and to the back door of the Memorial Hall where everyone wiped their feet, hung their coats and proceeded to sit down around the tables. Dinner monitors would then give out the cutlery, water jugs and beakers before settling down to enjoy the cook's special dinner and pudding.

The water pump in the forecourt (front yard) of the old school was removed and made safe around 1963. The outside toilets to the rear of the back yard were replaced by an 'out of keeping' extension built onto the north wall in the early 70s. In 1976 toilets were naturally incorporated into the new school plans. The kitchen, dining and main hall areas of the Memorial Hall were no longer used by the education authority since such facilities were available under one roof in the newly purpose built school.
